Arson Investigation Update

Since December 2021, UMBC Police have worked with the State Fire Marshal to investigate possible arson incidents reported in the Albin O. Kuhn Library, the Meyerhoff Chemistry Building, and Sherman Hall at that time.

Today, a suspect has been charged with second degree arson and arrested by the Maryland State Fire Marshal. We appreciate the support provided by the State Fire Marshal's Office and all UMBC colleagues who provided assistance in the investigation. UMBC Police will continue to monitor and support the progress of this case in the judicial system. We will keep the campus informed of the outcome.
