Motor Vehicle Theft

The UMBC Police Department issues Crime Alerts to protect members of the University community, to promote safety, and to help reduce vulnerability.

Reported Incident: Motor Vehicle Theft

Location: Hilltop Circle, near Back Road

Reported Date/Time: February 3, 2024, 9:00 a.m.

Incident Description: The victim reported their vehicle, an Infiniti, was parked on Hilltop Circle at approximately 1:30 p.m. on 1/28/2024.

The theft occurred between 1:30 p.m. on 1/28/2024 and 9:00 a.m. on 2/3/2024 and is the second Infiniti reported stolen to UMBC Police.

Safety Tips

Victims are not to blame. Perpetrators are responsible for criminal behavior. The following safety tips may reduce vulnerability:

  • Stay alert and attuned to people are circumstances around you. Report suspicious activity to UMBC Police immediately.
  • Remove USB cables from vehicles while not in use.
  • Park in well-lit, highly visible areas.
  • Lock your vehicle and take valuables with you.
  • Consider purchasing a steering wheel lock or other anti-theft device.
