The UMBC Police Department issues Crime Alerts to protect members of the University community, to promote safety, and to help reduce vulnerability. 

Reported Incident: Stalking

Location: Various Locations On Campus (Unknown)

Reported Date/Time: August 26, 2024, 11:57 a.m.

Occurred Date/Time: August 24, 2024 - August 25, 2024

Incident Description:  A student reported on-going unwanted communications from a non-student. The perpetrator came on campus twice between August 24 and August 25 in an attempt to see the victim. The victim reported another student has received unwanted communications from the perpetrator.

At this time, the perpetrator is unknown to UMBC Police.

Safety Tips

Victims are not to blame. Perpetrators are responsible for criminal behavior. The following safety tips may reduce vulnerability:

  • Stay alert and attuned to people and circumstances around you. Report suspicious activity to UMBC Police immediately.
  • Document stalking behaviors, even if you are unsure about reporting to the police.
  • Inform trusted friends and family that you are being stalked and tell them not to give any information about you to anyone.
  • Trust your instincts.
