Motor Vehicle Theft

The UMBC Police Department issues Crime Alerts to protect members of the University community, to promote safety, and to help reduce vulnerability. 

Reported Incident: Motor Vehicle Theft

Location: Walker Avenue Garage, 3rd Level 

Reported Date/Time: November 14, 2024, 12:20 p.m.

Occurred Date/Time: November 13, 2024, 9:39 p.m.

Incident Description: An Acura was reported stolen from the third level of the Walker Avenue Garage. The vehicle was stolen by two unknown males wearing all black clothing at approximately 9:39 p.m. on November 13, 2024.

Safety Tips

Victims are not to blame. Perpetrators are responsible for criminal behavior. The following safety tips may reduce vulnerability:

  • Stay alert and attuned to people and circumstances around you. Report suspicious activity to UMBC Police immediately.
  • Remove USB cables from vehicles while not in use.
  • Park in well-lit, highly visible areas.
  • Lock your vehicle and take valuables with you.
  • Consider purchasing a steering wheel lock or other anti-theft device.
