Use this example for the Retriever Activities Center to learn about rally points and assembly areas.

Rally Points:
- The blue line is a 50-foot perimeter. Every building has at least 1 rally point (RP) outside this line.
- Some larger buildings have 2 rally points. Go to the nearest location with the safest route of travel.
- Evacuate to your rally point if if there is an UNCONFIRMED threat to safety. For example, a fire alarm activates, but there are no obvious signs of smoke or fire.
- If UMBC Police give the all-clear, you may reenter the building.
- If there is a CONFIRMED threat to safety, move to your primary assembly area.
- Each building also has 4 designated sides: A, B, C, and D. Side A is generally considered the front of the building. This helps first responders determine locations around each building.
- The grid squares correspond to the campus maps on the Facilities Management webpage.
Primary Assembly Areas:
- The red circle is a 500-foot perimeter. Every building has a primary assembly area (PRI AA) outside this circle. Go to your primary assembly area if there is a confirmed threat at your building.
- The primary assembly area is always an outdoor location.
Alternate Assembly Areas:
- Every building has at least 1 alternate assembly area (ALT AA) outside the 500-foot perimeter.
- The alternate assembly area is always an indoor location to provide safety or shelter.
- Go here ONLY IF DIRECTED to do so under two conditions: 1) There is a safety or security concern at the primary assembly area, or 2) evacuation occurs during inclement weather.
